Goffman

Goffman 1990 :

abstract ways of thinking about identity that we also employ every day, the clothes they wear and the media we consume & the people we like. This is called the presentation of self which argues that people can be labelled negatively and can be victimised because of their apperance as people tend to make assumptions.

For example: Mods & Rockers
